Terms of service

Last updated 1 October 2026

These terms govern your use of SafeRemit Borderless ("Borderless"), the multi-currency account and cross-border transfer service operated by SafeRemit ("we", "us"). By opening an account you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

1. Who may open an account

You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into a contract. A business account may only be opened by someone authorised to act for that business. You must give us accurate information and keep it up to date, and tell us if your address, directors or ownership change.

2. Verification

You may open an account and receive funds before verifying your identity. Sending funds to a third party requires verification. For an individual that means identity and address evidence; for a business it means the company's registration details, directors, beneficial owners and supporting documents.

We may decline an application, ask for further information, or suspend an account where we cannot complete verification or where we are required to do so by law. Where we are permitted to explain a decision, we will.

3. Your account and security

You are responsible for keeping your password and your six-digit transaction PIN confidential. We will never ask you for either. Transfers authorised with your PIN are treated as authorised by you.

Tell us immediately if you believe someone else has access to your account or has made a transfer you did not authorise. Our ability to recover funds depends heavily on how quickly you tell us.

4. Transfers

When you instruct a transfer we will show you the amount, the applicable fee, the exchange rate where one applies, and the expected arrival window for the rail you have chosen, before you approve it. Once approved, a transfer may not be cancellable.

Arrival times are estimates. Payments depend on partner institutions, intermediary banks, and the receiving bank's own processing, none of which we control. Transfers may be delayed or returned where a receiving institution requires further information, or where compliance screening requires review.

You are responsible for the accuracy of the beneficiary details you confirm. Where you confirm details extracted from a document you supplied, it is your confirmation that we act on, not the extraction itself.

5. Currency conversion

Conversions are executed at the rate quoted to you at the time of the instruction, which includes our margin. That rate is shown before you confirm. Rates move; a quote is valid only for the period stated with it.

6. Fees

There is no fee to open or hold an account, and no minimum balance. Fees apply per transfer and depend on the rail and corridor; the fee for your specific transfer is displayed before you approve it. We will give you reasonable notice of changes to our fees.

7. Acceptable use

You may not use Borderless to:

  • break any law, or evade sanctions, tax or exchange-control obligations;
  • launder money or finance terrorism;
  • make payments for another person while presenting them as your own;
  • provide false, altered or another person's documents during verification;
  • attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems or another customer's account.

We may suspend or close an account, and refuse or reverse a transaction, where we reasonably believe this clause has been breached or where we are legally required to act.

8. Availability

We work to keep the service available but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. Maintenance, partner outages and events beyond our control can interrupt it. We will not be liable for losses caused by an interruption we could not reasonably have prevented.

9. Our liability

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including for fraud. Subject to that, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, or loss arising from your failure to keep your credentials secure or from beneficiary details you confirmed incorrectly.

10. Closing an account

You may close your account at any time once it holds no balance and has no transfer in progress. We may close an account by giving you reasonable notice, or immediately where required by law or where clause 7 has been breached. Closure does not affect obligations that arose before it.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. Material changes will be notified to you in the app or by email before they take effect. Continuing to use the service after that date means you accept the updated terms.

12. Governing law and contact

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which SafeRemit is incorporated, and disputes are subject to the courts of that jurisdiction.
